PSUD Tentatively Agrees to Salary Increases

 Increase Will Benefit School Administrative Staff and Career and Technical Education Teachers

The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) has announced the board of education’s tentative offer for salary increases to members of the Association of Pasadena School Administrators (APSA) and career and technical education teachers.

The tentative offer to APSA members calls for a 3 percent salary increase for all members retroactive to July 1, 2015 and ongoing. APSA members are part of a meet and confer group. The district employs 180 APSA members who are largely employed as principals, assistant principals, secretaries, office managers, clinical social workers, and administrators at school sites and the district’s educational center. This salary increase does not apply to PUSD’s Executive Leadership Team.

The tentative offer for career and technical education teachers calls for a 3 percent salary increase for 24 teachers within the district retroactive to July 1, 2015, and a 2 percent salary increase effective July 2016 for the next school year. This will result in an ongoing 5 percent salary increase effective July 2016. Career and technical education teachers are a non-bargaining group.

Both groups last received a 3 percent salary increase in 2014. These offers come after a comprehensive review of the district’s budget.

“Fiscal responsibility means aligning resources to meet both personnel needs and student needs. PUSD is committed to providing a salary raise to each employee; however, the raises must be in line with revenue projections so that classroom objectives are also achieved,” said Dr. Elizabeth Pomeroy, board of education president.
