Families can make summer plans that combine learning, fun, and convenience with the selection of enrichment and academic programs offered by the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) and its partners when school ends on June 2. Affordable and free programs are available through PUSD, Pasadena LEARNs, the Pasadena Educational Foundation (PEF), and other district partners. For information about PUSD’s summer programs, visit gopusd.com/summer2016.

“Our summer learning programs enrich and engage students so that they return to school in the fall ready to move up to the next level,” said PUSD Superintendent Dr. Brian McDonald. “It is important for children and families to relax and get some rest, but parents, families, and adult caregivers need to ensure that learning never stops during the summer months. Our community offers many excellent family activities to ignite the imagination of our students, and I encourage families to explore the libraries, parks, and museums in our communities.”

There are many programs in Altadena, Pasadena, and Sierra Madre at low and no cost designed to bring families together, from recreation classes and parks after dark, to special arts and swim programs.

Pasadena LEARNs is accepting applications for its six-week elementary Summer Innovation Program, which runs Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 8 to July 14. PUSD Arts Education Summer Band Camps will be offered to students enrolled in instrumental music.
