Clifton Middle School students will offer a performance of “Fame! JR.,” for two back to back weekends on April 16-18 and 23-25.
“Fame! JR.” is based on the hit motion picture turned long-running television series. It takes place in New York City’s High School for the Performing Arts in the 1980s.The musical follows a diverse group of students as they commit to four years of grueling artistic and academic work in order to achieve their dream of seeing their name in lights. The show explores the issues that confront many young people today, including prejudice, identity, self-worth, literacy and perseverance.
In “Fame! JR.” thecharacters discover it takes much more than talent to achieve their dreams. Theymust find their artistic voice, build up confidence, learn how to collaborateand put in hard work.
“Clifton Middle School students are learning and exhibiting these same life skills and discipline through their process of staging ‘Fame! JR,’” said Danielle Munoz, director and founder of One Music Stand Voice and production coordinator and director of “Fame! JR.” “We know you will remember their names after seeing these talented students bring life to a great story.”
“Fame! JR.” will be presented at the Clifton Middle School Theatre, 226 S. Ivy Ave., at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for general admission and $5 for any Monrovia students (with ASB card). They may be purchased online at onemusicstand.com starting March 1 or at the door.
