23-year-old motorcyclist killed in Long Beach crash

Authorities Monday were working to determine the cause of a crash in Long Beach that killed a motorcyclist.

The 23-year-old Long Beach man was injured about 4:35 p.m. Sunday at Pacific Avenue and 32nd Street and died at a hospital, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Authorities withheld his name, pending notification of his relatives.

The 2013 Kawasaki was northbound on Pacific Avenue when it hit a curb, “causing the driver to become separated from the motorcycle,” according to a police statement. “The motorcycle continued traveling northbound without the driver, until it was struck by a 2010 Ford Mustang, also traveling northbound Pacific Avenue.”

The driver of the Ford, whose name was withheld, was questioned at the scene and released.

“At this time, it is unknown if impairment was a factor in this collision,” police said. “However, speed is being investigated as a possible factor in the collision.”

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police at 562- 570-7355, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
