San Gabriel will celebrate Independence Day on Friday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Gabrielino High School Baseball Field, the city announced.

The free event, located at 1327 S. San Gabriel Blvd., is part of the city’s annual Summer in San Gabriel concert and movie series, and will feature live music, games, food and patriotic festivities for all ages.

The Kelly Boyz Band is set to headline the evening with their high-energy blend of country, rock and pop music. Eventgoers can also explore booths, food trucks, arts and crafts activities, family-friendly games and a watermelon-eating contest.

A drone show concludes the evening starting at 9 p.m. and sponsored by Athens Services

Admission is free and open to the public. Organizers encouraged guests to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating. Event gates close at 8:40 p.m.
