Arcadia Crime Blotters: May 26 – June 1

May 26

Shortly before 10:04 p.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Mall, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim discovered her 1994 Honda Civic had been stolen from the parking lot sometime between 2:40 and 8 p.m. on May 26. The vehicle was later recovered in East Los Angeles. No suspects were seen. The investigation is ongoing.

May 27

Just after 12:32 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of Genoa Street regarding a theft from vehicle report. The officer determined an unknown suspect entered the unlocked vehicle and stole headphones, a mini printer, credit cards, and cash. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

At approximately 6:24 p.m., an officer responded to the Santa Anita Race Track, 285 W. Huntington Drive, regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed a 36-year-old male from Azusa grabbed a 15-year-old female’s buttock against her will. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

May 28

At approximately 10 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of East Santa Clara Street regarding a fraud report. The victim encountered a problem with his Facebook account and attempted to resolve the issue by finding a customer service phone number online. Upon calling the number, the “representative” asked the victim to purchase Google Play gift cards in exchange for assistance with his Facebook account. The victim complied and as the suspect asked for more money; the victim realized he was being scammed. The investigation is ongoing.

Around 12:14 p.m., an officer responded to JCPenney at the Santa Anita Mall, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a grand theft report. Surveillance footage revealed three suspects stole approximately $2,635 worth of merchandise. The suspects are described as three black males. The investigation is ongoing.

Just before 2:21 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Katherine Lane regarding a suspicious female ringing door bells. Officers located the vehicle and occupants and during a search of the vehicle, the officers located burglary tools. An investigation revealed the suspects were responsible for a residential burglary that occurred in Sierra Madre on May 28. A 20-year-old male from Compton, an 18-year-old male from Los Angeles, a 17-year-old male from Granada Hills, a 16-year-old male from Compton, and a 17-year-old female from Compton were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

May 29

At about 4:24 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2500 block of Paxson Lane regarding a domestic dispute. An argument between a husband and wife turned physical when the husband grabbed his wife, twisted her arm, and pushed her against a counter. The 72-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Shortly after 6:43 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of East Longden Avenue regarding a package theft report. The victim determined an unknown suspect stole her Nordstrom packages sometime between 5:34 and 6:43 p.m. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

May 30

Before 1:47 p.m., an officer was flagged down by a resident in the 00 block of El Dorado Street regarding a vandalism report. The victim discovered his rear window had been shot at with three BB’s leaving the window cracked. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Around 5:47 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Foothill Boulevard regarding a possible DUI driver. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver’s breath. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .20%. The 60-year-old male from Monrovia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

May 31

At about 9:14 a.m., an officer responded to the intersection of Second Avenue and Alice Street regarding a possible DUI driver. An investigation revealed the suspect, a 31-year-old female from Victorville, was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The officer also located a broken bottle of liquor in the front passenger seat of the vehicle. A records check revealed the suspect had three outstanding misdemeanor warrants and was driving with a suspended license. She was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just before 4:07 p.m., an officer responded to Victoria’s Secret, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a grand theft report. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects stole approximately $1,798.50 worth of bras between 11:47 and 11:50 a.m. on May 30. The suspects are described as a black male in his 30s, 5-foot-10, wearing a green and white t-shirt and blue denim pants. The second suspect is a black female in her 30s, hair braided, wearing a black shirt, grey denim pants, and carrying a black and grey tote bag. The investigation is ongoing.

June 1

Shortly after 4:19 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department front counter regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed the suspect entered a dressing room in Hollister, 400 S. Baldwin Ave., and stole the victim’s forgotten wallet. The suspect is described as an Asian male, approximately 40-years-old, dark complexion, 5-foot-8 tall, seen wearing a black shirt. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 7:05 p.m., officers responded to REI, 214 N. Santa Anita Ave., regarding a theft report. The suspect was seen riding away with an unsecured bicycle after stealing a backpack from the store. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a black baseball hat, black long sleeve shirt, and blue pants. The investigation is ongoing.
