On Aug. 16 at 11:37 a.m., Pasadena police were called to the Chick-fil-A at 1700 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena regarding a four-year-old female who was contacted by a 48-year-old male in the play area structure of the restaurant.
The mother entered the play structure after her daughter was momentarily out of her vision and discovered her daughter undressed. The mother grabbed her daughter and fled from the play structure. A customer at the restaurant detained the suspect until the police arrived within minutes.
It was determined the suspect suffers from a severe mental disability. He was on an outing with a Developmental Services Community Day Program.
The suspect was arrested and booked at the Pasadena Police Department jail for harassing a minor. The Homeless Outreach Psychiatric Team (HOPE) responded and evaluated the suspect. He was subsequently booked and transported to a mental health facility for further evaluation.
The child was released to her parents. Although her clothes were removed, the victim stated there was no physical harm. The Special Victims Unit of the Pasadena Police Department will follow-up and provide resources to assist the family.
Chick-fil-A management cooperated with the police department during the course of the investigation.
Pasadena Fire paramedics responded to the scene to examine the child although the family denied medical treatment.
