Suspect faces 25 years to life
Jean O’Connor, 41, a transient in the North Hollywood area has been charged with killing a 75-year-old woman at her Pasadena home, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Jan 15. Deputy District Attorney Ryan Erlich is the assigned prosecutor.
According to KTLA, police found Jeri Douglas strangled to death on Dec. 17 at approximately 3:40 p.m. after her daughter requested a “welfare check” after she could not get in contact with her mother. KTLA further stated that the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner ruled Douglass’ death as a homicide after further investigation of the suspicious nature of the scene. Currently, the motive of the crime is unknown, but police state that Douglas’ murder was not a “random act of violence”.
On Dec. 26, Police apprehended O’Connor in North Hollywood as the suspect of the crime. O’Connor pleaded not guilty Jan. 15, and she is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 26. If convicted as charged, O’Connor faces a possible maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison. Bail is set at $2 million while the case remains under investigation by the Pasadena Police Department.
