SummerSing, the Pasadena Chorale’s free weeklong summer choir camp for students entering grades seven through 12, returns this year offering young singers an opportunity to develop their musical skills at no cost to families.

SummerSing runs June 22-26 at and is based at a local church.

Led by Pasadena Chorale Artistic and Executive Director Jeffrey Bernstein, the program provides students with daily instruction in ensemble singing, vocal technique, music theory and movement. Bernstein, who holds degrees from Harvard, Yale and UCLA, has more than 30 years of experience as a choral music educator.

“Singing together nourishes body, mind, and spirit,” Bernstein said in a statement. “The cognitive benefits of music education are many, and importantly, learning music with others is fun! During our week together we’ll be building and practicing skills that last a lifetime.”

Participants meet Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at San Marino Community Church, 1750 Virginia Road in San Marino. Snacks and lunch are provided for all SummerSingers each day.

The program is open to students who enjoy singing in their school choir, regardless of prior musical training or financial circumstances, organizers said.

Enrollment is currently open, and space is limited, according to the Chorale. Interested families should complete the online enrollment form on the organization’s website by June 15, pasadenachorale.org/summersing.
