A new Golden Corral restaurant opened last week in Covina offering an all-you-can-eat buffet for local diners and commuters.
The newest location of the nation’s largest buffet brand at 1459 N. Citrus Ave. is the first in Covina and one of more than 15 in California, according to an announcement by the city.
Formerly a hibachi buffet, the new Golden Corral has been remodeled to feature the company’s updated “Gateway” design, officials said. The 12,500-square-foot building has capacity for 455 diners and shares a parking lot with Harbor Freight Tools and Superior Grocers.
In addition to the new dining option, the restaurant has added to the local economy 200 jobs including servers, cooks, hosts and managers.
“We are blessed to be able to serve an abundance of delicious homemade offerings to the community of Covina,” Golden Corral franchisee Leon Lin said in a statement. “We love this city and plan to stick around for a long time. I look forward to welcoming new friends to the restaurant over the next several weeks.”
On June 4, the restaurant hosted employees and their families for an exclusive lunch and ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by city officials.
Covina’s new Golden Corral is open Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and 8 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
