A man driving a box truck was fatally shot Wednesday by one or more sheriff’s deputies in Norwalk following a pursuit.

The shooting occurred about 10 a.m. near Alondra Boulevard and Piuma Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the man, who died at the scene. No deputies were injured.

According to KTLA, the man was driving a box truck recklessly when deputies began pursuing the vehicle, which went south on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway and exited at Alondra Boulevard.

Details of what led to the shooting were not released, but the box truck ended up on top of a divider at Alondra and Piuma Avenue, near the freeway offramp.

The offramp was expected to be closed for several hours while an investigation was conducted. A Sigalert was issued for at least eight hours by the CHP Santa Fe Springs station, according to CBSLA.
