Los Angeles County Sheriff’s and Monterey Park police are investigating the shooting death of a man and woman inside a Monterey Park restaurant.
Monterey Park police responded to the location after receiving a 911 call on Monday, at approximately 6:28 p.m. regarding shots fired on the 500 block of West Garvey Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found an Asian male and female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
It appears the suspect knew and specifically targeted the victims. This incident does not appear to be a random act of violence, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Witnesses describe the shooter an Asian man in his late 30s or early 40s, according to authorities.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information at this time.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
