6 Wintery LA Activities to Get You into the Holiday Spirit

It’s finally December! It kind of makes you wish there was more to the seasons in SoCal, other than the regular mood swings like having a heated day followed by a chilly night. While it may be sweater weather, some may still yearn for those extra wintery activities. Here are a few suggestions to navigate this dilemma:

1. Palm Springs

Cost Estimate: $16.95 – $30

Spend some snow fun up Mt. San Jacinto State Park with a short 10 minute ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, the world’s largest rotating tram car. The tram takes you up 8,516 feet, showcasing Instagram-worthy views, valleys and snow. And once you’re up there, you can enjoy the bed of snow; choose from 50 miles of hiking trails or simply relax in the observation deck. There are two restaurants if you get hungry. And if you’re not into the snow, you can stick around for the history museum, docu-theatres and gift shop!

2. Snow Day LA

Cost Estimate: $16 – $35

If you’re looking to go snow tubing, but want to stay in the LA area, the Old Lodge Montecillo De Leo Politi has been converted for Snow Day LA, one of the first tubing parks in Los Angeles! Along with tubing there are also a variety of picture spots in the enchanted crystal garden, an interactive light show, photo booths and several light paths.

3. The Americana at Brand Winter Wonderland

Cost Estimate: $0

Looking for something more small scale? From November 16 to December 25 at 7-8 p.m. The Americana at Brand transforms its shopping complex into a Winter Wonderland. The place is decorated with Christmas decor from extravagant lights to a giant tree. They even have your favorite holiday hits playing throughout your shopping experience.

4. The Grove

Cost Estimate: $0

Similar to the Americana, the Grove also transforms its shopping complex into a Christmas Winter Wonderland. Snow falls from the roof starting November 19 until December 25 at 7-8 p.m. It is made up of bubbles and short-lasting so you don’t have to worry about ruining your hair.

5. Queen Mary Christmas

Cost Estimate: $22-$30

In Long Beach, California, do some winter things at Queen Mary Christmas. From November 26 to January 1, venture through the outdoor North Pole Village with lots of activities to choose from. Go ice skating, hop on the train, make a gingerbread house or simply enjoy the performers and decor. Have little ones? Take them to Mrs. Claus for story time or the giant rocking horse. There’s a bit of something for everyone!

6. Pershing Square Ice Skating

Cost Estimate: $14 (including the skate rental)

If you’re looking for something more lowkey, from now until January 20, 2020, go ice skating at the Bai Holiday Ice Skating Rink in Pershing Square. It’s the perfect place to take a date, family and friends! You’ll be surrounded by lights, art and the vibe of the City of Angels.

The holidays are almost near, but it’s never too early to spend some time with the ones you love. What will you do this holiday?
