Wingwalker Brewing celebrates the pioneers who paved the way for breweries like theirs with creativity and “foolhardiness,” as described on their website. The brewery was founded by Dave Robkin, a Los Angeles native and current resident of Altadena, who aims to create a space that gives his customer more than just great beer, but a place to call home. Robkin’s Wingwalker is prepared to offer their guests the same adventure and unique experience that inspired their business. Robkin brings the circus tradition of his youth in Baraboo, Wis. into the brewery’s design. “Baraboo is famous as the home of the Ringling Brothers’ Circus, and the Experimental Aircraft Association is nearby in Oshkosh. I was fascinated by circus acts and aircraft growing up and the classic aerial attraction of Wingwalking brings them both together.”

Wingwalker also offers a relaxing experience for those who wish to enjoy a refreshing beer from their featured collection. The taproom features a variety of brews, from dark ales to IPAs, with eight beers currently on tap and six more on the way. In addition to their “bold and daring brews,” Wingwalker’s selection of soothing and quieter beers quench the thirst of those who want to hang out with friends and family over a board game or sports on the TV.

Aside from their wide array of hand crafted brews, Wingwalker is an eco-friendly business that strives to “choose the finest sustainably grown hops, malts, and grains” that lowers their carbon footprint. They repurpose their spent grain for dog treats, animal feed, bakeries, and compost. They also use reusable growlers and bottles for carryouts.

Join Wingwalker Brewery on Feb. 9 for their Grand Opening, and make sure to “come on down and soar!” The family-friendly taproom will celebrate their official opening with live music by rock and blues band The Freedom Ledges plus food from Tomski Sausage and The Goat Mafia.

Wingwalker is now open at 235 W. Maple Ave in Monrovia. Hours are Thursday from 5-10 p.m., Friday from 5-11p.m., Saturday from 12-11 p.m., and Sunday from 12-10 p.m. For additional info go to wingwalkerbrewing.com.
