The annual shindig that is Monrovia Firefighters’ Association Pancake Breakfast drew hundreds of friends of firefighters as well as community members on Saturday. Kids and adults alike feasted on possibly the best flapjacks cooked up by those famous culinary kings, The Knights of Columbus, Monrovia – not to mention you could eat as much as you like for a $5 donation.  This, of course, gave kids and parents energy to participate in the Junior Firefighter Challenge, which was wildly popular.

Firefighters helped eager kids (both boys and girls) dress up with miniature firefighter turnouts and hats to navigate through a series of aptitude tests including carrying a ladder, moving a heavy hose line, and extinguishing a house fire.

Monrovia and Verdugo Firefighters helped kids experience a day in the life of a firefighter by getting aboard a fire engine, listening to calls from dispatch, and just being up-close-and-personal with all the amazing firefighting equipment these brave men and women use daily to protect Monrovia. Monrovia Fire has protected the city for over 100 years.
