The Monrovia Historic Preservation Group (MOHPG) has teamed with the Monrovia Fire Department to present a special earthquake preparedness seminar on Sept. 9. This event is not limited to members of MOHPG and is open to all members of the community. Since space is limited, reservations are required for this event.

The workshop will provide resources and information about preparedness not only at home, but also at work.  There will be informational booths from Groups such as Edison and Southern California Gas Company.  There will even be refreshments and a free gift for every participant. The highlight will be a presentation by Margaret Vinci, manager of the Office of Earthquake Programs at Caltech’s seismological laboratory. She is committed to the outreach and education of earthquake science and preparedness.

There will also be presentations by the fire department and its CERT program as well as by the American Red Cross.  This will all begin at 11 am in the Community Room at the Monrovia Public Library. With all the informational booths, attendance will be limited to 60 people.

To RSVP, logon to the MOHPG website at www.mohpg.org and provide your name and contact information. To RSVP, logon to the MOHPG website at www.mohpg.org and provide your name and contact information. According to Jim Wigton, president of MOHPG, the attendees will be notified two weeks in advance of the event, to remind them to acknowledge the reservation.
