“We traveled from Brooklyn to Los Angeles in our ‘Coast by Coast’ van, and we’re excited to finally be here in California for the first time,” said Kristen Cleary, owner and designer at the boutique Coast by Coast.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to display our business in a sunny environment.”

Downtown Los Angeles’ art district was overflowing with designers, coastal brands, and artistic statements at the annual three-day marketplace, Northern Grade, from Dec. 4-6. Business owners and creators from all over the U.S., including New York, Mississippi, Texas, and North Carolina, and even as far as Barcelona, Spain, gathered in a spacious warehouse on 203 Front Street to showcase their brands.

From leather belts and denim jackets to metallic flasks and cocktail drinks, the art display was the place to be.

The Northern Grade featured an assortment of designer companies, including handmade leather goods by L.C King, Teranishi, BELTCRAFT, and Made Solid, and denim clothing by Civilinaire, EXARTHUR, Aloha Sunday, and Glass House. Aside from fashion pieces were acrylic furniture items by Nobel Truong, contemporary light fixtures by A-Bulb, wooden keychains by Hobowood, scented face masks by Fulton & Roark, and colored metallic flasks by Jacob Bromwell.

“Our company started in 1819. We’re one of the oldest and most unique flask-making businesses in the world,” said Sean Bandawat, President at Jacob Bromwell.

This annual event was founded in 2010, and continues to be an inspiration for artists everywhere.
