KENDRICK

On Monday, Compton’s very own Kendrick Lamar shook the 58th annual Grammy Awards with 11 Grammy nominations— topping pop sensations Taylor Swift and The Weeknd.

To Pimp a Butterfly features forceful lyrics about racial injustice and poverty in “Complexion (A Zulu Love)” and “How Much a Dollar Cost” paired with catchy, radio-friendly jams like  “i”. The well-rounded album even sneaks in a illusory discussion between himself  and childhood hero 2PAC where they talk careers, success in a mainstream world, and their creative influences.

K Dot’s Grammy nods include Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, Song of the Year, Best Rap Song, Best Music Video, and Best Rap Performance for “Alright.”

In celebration of his nomination domination, we created a special Kendrick Lamar playlist with some of our favorites ranging  from To Pimp a Butterfly to Overly Dedicated circa 2010.

Enjoy!
