Pasadena’s Public Library And Recreation Departments Offer Summer Fun

Summer fun for all ages can be found inside the Pasadena Public Library or at Pasadena’s great local parks where a myriad of activities are being offered by the Human Services and Recreation Department.
The Pasadena Public Library’s annual Summer Reading Club runs June 9 to August Aug. 4. Youths can keep their reading skills sharp by joining this year’s popular reading adventure program, so be sure to sign up now at the Central Library or any of the nine Pasadena Public Library branches.
This year’s theme “Dream Big READ!” features a variety of free shows and fun activities geared especially for children 12 and younger, Library Director Jan Sanders said.
Sanders said children will use a reading log to record the books they finish or that were read to them throughout the summer. Their log books will allow them to receive special prizes as they participate in the Club’s wonderful programs and other fun activities. Beginning June 9, parents can stop by the Central Library or the branch libraries to get the free Summer Reading Club Starter Kit for their children.

“From art to Zumba, and everything in between, the summer guidebook is full of indoor and outdoor summer recreation opportunities at very modest prices for children, teens, adults and seniors,” said Mercy Santoro, Human Services and Recreation Department Director. “We’ve got dance and music classes, swim lessons, arts and crafts, baseball, computers labs, soccer and all kinds of fun fitness classes.”
