National Night Out & Arcadia’s 108th Birthday. National Night Out promotes crime prevention and awareness through police-community partnerships. Arcadia’s Police and Fire Department will be on hand. Free fingerprinting for the kids, crime prevention materials and other information will be available. Stop by and show your support to Arcadia’s finest. But wait…that is not it! Help Arcadia celebrate our 108th birthday by enjoying some birthday cake (while supplies last) sponsored by Arcadia’s Historical Society. The City is promoting National Night Out with a concert on the lawn Thursday, August 4th at 6:00 PM. This is in line with the Summer Concert Series and will host the above-listed festivities and special events. Additional parking for the event can be found at the Santa Anita Race Track, Gate 5 (Huntington Dr./Colorado Pl.) entrance.

A bit about National Night Out:
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
• Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
• Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Last year’s National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people participated in National Night Out 2010.
