SATURDAY AUGUST 6, 2011 AT THE ARBORETUM AND SUNDAY AUGUST 7, 2011 AT WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL

The fourth concert of this summer’s spectacular Festival On The Green series takes place at the Arboretum on August 6, 2011 with Rogers & Hammerstein In Europe. The exciting concert pairs songs of Broadway’s greatest musicals with classics by Rossini and Tchaikovsky. Without missing a beat, acclaimed Maestro Victor Vener and Cal Phil will continue to enlighten and entertain audiences at Walt Disney Concert Hall with a Sunday August 7, 2011 matinee.

Broadway sensations Brandi Burkhardt and Derek Keeling join Maestro Vener, Cal Phil and the Cal Phil chorale for performances from such popular musicals as The Sound of Music, South Pacific, Carousel, Kismet and Oklahoma alongside performances of beloved classics Romeo and Juliet and the William Tell Overture.

“Rogers & Hammerstein In Europe is a fantastic show featuring songs that people love to sing along with,” said Vener of the concert he designed that blends “timeless great music” in a unique setting. “Beautiful music and song will fill this weekend at Festival on the Green and Walt Disney Concert Hall.”

The 2011Festival On The Green summer concert series marks the last to take place at the Arboretum. After more than 15 highly successful years at this venue, Cal Phil is proudly -moving across the street to Santa Anita Park beginning summer 2012.

The series continues on with That’s Entertainment paying homage to some of music’s greatest moments such as Fiddler on the Roof and Gustav Mahler’s Titan Symphony on the season’s final concerts August 20, 2011 and August 21, 2011.
