Performances à la Carte, the Pasadena based collaborative arts and social conscience entity, presents its Spring 2019 Jazz ‘n Paz intimate seasonal monthly early Sunday evening jazz series featuring a lineup of award-winning and internationally renowned jazz musicians. A staple on the jazz scene, Barbara Morrison and her Trio headline the second concert of the spring series on Sunday, March 24 at 5:00 p.m. at Neighborhood UU Church in Pasadena. Morrison’s trio features Charles Small, guitar; Michael Saucier, Bass; and Peter Buck, Drums.

The dazzling three-time Grammy-nominated Barbara Morrison has been featured on over 20 recordings in almost every genre from traditional jazz and blues to gospel and pop. Her melodic voice, with its two-and-a-half-octave range, are known worldwide, as are her rich, unique, soulful and highly spirited interpretations of both, familiar jazz and blues classics, and original contemporary tunes. Most striking is her ability to belt out down-home, soul-stirring Blues. Breathtaking are her impassioned renditions of old and favorite torch songs.

Well known in the Los Angeles area for her duo and trio dates Ms. Morrison also tours extensively, blazing a trail as a Jazz and Blues legend in her own right across the Continental United States, Western Europe the Far East and “Down Under”, wowing audiences with her band. In additional to her gigs with other legends, Barbara Morrison also performs at the more renowned Blues and Jazz Festivals around the world. Her appearances include Montreaux, Nice, Pori, Carnegie Hall, North Sea, Monterey, Long Beach, as well as salutes to Dizzy Gillespie and her tribute to Benny Golson.

In 2008 she opened the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center (BMPAC). The 99-seat theatre and adaptable performance space is located in the historic Leimert Park District, the center of the African American arts scene in Los Angeles.

The final spring 2019 Jazz ‘n Paz concert on April 28th features Eclectic Collective, featuring Jamie Perez with the Nick Mancini Collective, a nine-piece band including such jazz front-runners as saxophone tour de force, Danny Janklow and the amazingly gifted jazz pianist Michael Ragonese, in a concert of improv standards, originals and Elton John tunes that will blow your mind.
