Monrovia is the Place to be This Holiday Season

There are many different things happening throughout town, including a holiday sing along, horse-drawn wagon rides, and caroling. Don’t miss out on the fun listed below:

Shop Black Friday & Small Business Saturday and donate a toy on Myrtle.

It’s the official start of the holiday shopping season. Support the Monrovia business community by shopping at a local store or dining at a local restaurant. Local businesses help give Monrovia its small-town feel with stores and restaurants you can’t find anywhere else. There will be special events both days. On Nov. 23 Santa will arrive in Old Town at 10 a.m. There will be drawings, music, and in-store specials all day long on Nov. 24.

Toy drive on Myrtle Avenue.

Spread the joy this season by participating in the Toy Drive on Myrtle Avenue. Starting at 10 a.m. on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, members of Monrovia’s Fire and Rescue will be out on Myrtle Avenue to collect toys.

Tree Lighting & Holiday Parade.

The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Holiday Parade will be on Dec. 6. Join your neighbors for this special holiday tradition in Old Town. The tree lighting will take place at 6 p.m. at Library Park and the Holiday Parade will begin at 7 p.m. The parade will travel north on Myrtle Avenue from Chestnut to Palm avenues. This event is sponsored by the Monrovia Old Town Merchants who have sponsored the Holiday Parade for many years.

If you would like to participate in the parade you must fill out an application by Nov. 27. You can submit your application by visiting the Community Center.

Holiday sing along in Old Town.

There will be a Holiday Sing Along for carolers young and old, the musically gifted and tone-deaf. The sing along will be taking place on the 400 block of Myrtle Avenue on Friday, Dec. 14 at 8:15 p.m.

Horse-drawn wagon rides in Old Town Monrovia.

To help celebrate this holiday season, horse-drawn wagon rides will be available in Old Town Monrovia on Thursday and Sunday evenings in December. The wagon rides will be offered on Myrtle Avenue for $5 per person on a first-come first-serve basis, and is sponsored by the Monrovia Old Town Advisory Board. The wagon rides will be offered on Thursdays, Dec. 13 and 20 from 5 – 8 p.m. and on Sundays, Dec. 2, 9, and 16 from 3 – 6 p.m.

Free kids’ crafts on Myrtle Avenue.

On Saturdays, Dec. 15 and 22 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on the 400 block of Myrtle Avenue (Old Town) kids can have some fun crafting.

Breakfasts with Santa in Old Town Monrovia.

Have a very special breakfast with Santa every Saturday in December at various locations in Old Town. On Dec. 1 Santa will be at the Peach Café at 8 a.m. On Dec. 8 Santa will stop at Jake’s Roadhouse at 8 a.m. then he will visit the Monrovian Restaurant at 10 a.m. and he will finish his morning at Oh Mulberry Bush at 11 a.m. On Dec. 15 Santa will once again stop at the Peach Café at 8 a.m. Your last chance to have breakfast with Santa will be on Dec. 22. That day Santa will stop by Jake’s Roadhouse at 8 a.m. then he will visit Oh Mulberry Bush at 10 a.m. and he will finish off the season at Rudy’s Mexican Restaurant at 11 a.m.

New Year’s Eve on Myrtle Avenue.

The New Year will be here before you know it. The City of Monrovia, along with the Monrovia Old Town Advisory Board, and the Old Town Merchants, are set to present the annual New Year’s Eve on Myrtle Avenue starting at 7 p.m. on Dec. 31. There will be child care services from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. for a fee of $20 at the Monrovia Community Center.
