In the first leg of a two-game series, the Muir baseball team had no answers during its 6-1 defeat to a well-oiled Crescenta Valley squad on Tuesday night.

As league play reached its halfway point, the Mustangs traveled to Stengel Field in Glendale for a tough fixture with the Eagles.

Muir had a solid start to the season but have yet to find a nice rhythm against Pacific League competition. Meanwhile, Crescenta Valley was undefeated going into the game and tied for first place in the standings with Arcadia.

Other than a solitary RBI by senior Valenta Vera, Muir was shut down the rest of the way while Crescenta Valley cruised to victory. As a team, the Mustangs only recorded a total of three hits that came from Amaris Harrison, Aryonis Harrison and Kevin Torres.

Overall, Muir continues to hover around .500 with a 7-6-1 record. The team is also tied for fifth with Burbank in the Pacific League table but is still well suited to make a serious run at the crown.

On deck for the Mustangs is their home leg of the two-way series on Friday as they host Crescenta Valley in hopes of avenging Tuesday’s loss.
