Directed and starring critically-acclaimed solo performance/theater artist and Sierra Madre resident Alex Luu (along with 5 other performers), My Own Story Greatest Hits is that rare live performance/theater show that explores stories & experiences specifically from the real-life perspective of its performers. These are stories that are rarely seen and heard; stories that are usually misrepresented, stereotyped, and altogether ignored or forgotten by mainstream media and popular culture.

My Own Story Greatest Hits presents six individual performances that combine autobiographical storytelling, monologues, music, and performance art in a dynamic collective presentation. Some of the themes include identity, family rituals/politics, racism, and the varying dynamics of being an immigrant, in a raw no-holds-barred fashion that is at once comical and heartrendingly poignant–a guitar-playing musician son pays tribute to his immigrant father from Mexico for sacrifices made for the family; a Vietnam War refugee ponders the outrageous but practical lesson of wrapping all material belongings in saran & foil; a young Latina woman dares to dream big of making it in Hollywood against all odds. A recent transplant from China discovers her “weirdo” self while adapting to America.

My Own Story Greatest Hits promises to entertain, provoke, and inspire. Come join us for stories & performances that refuse to be sidelined. Come join us for stories &* performances that demand to be front and center. Come join us for five evenings that will be unforgettable. Come join us for My Own Story Greatest Hits.
