Monrovia Music Fest returns to Library Park in the heart of Old Town Monrovia on Sunday from noon to 7 p.m., bringing a full day of live music, art, and food to the San Gabriel Valley. Hosted by nonprofit organization Creative Being, the free annual festival is now in its 9th year.
Festivalgoers can enjoy live performances throughout the day, a curated artisan marketplace, food trucks, family-friendly activities, and a 5,000-square-foot craft beer and wine garden featuring a ticketed VIP lounge experience with premium stage views. Creative Being will also have a budget-friendly tie-dye booth, and Tim the Bubble Man will entertain everyone with giant bubbles. There will be many more free activities throughout the event.
“Our goal is to create more than a music festival — we’re creating an environment of inspiration,” said Creative Being President and Monrovian Carole Kaufman. “The musicians may inspire someone to learn guitar or sing, while the artists and makers may encourage someone to start painting, crafting, or creating something they’ve always dreamed about. We want people to leave saying ‘yes’ to their own creativity.”
A representative from Kathryn Barger’s office praised the festival’s impact on the community: “Creative Being will bring people from Monrovia and surrounding cities to achieve their creative passions through the arts… and will bring people together to create a sense of belonging and community.”

This year’s lineup showcases an eclectic mix of emerging and established artists, including LA Winter, The Snipes, Captain Danger, Young Keta, and internationally acclaimed musical whistler The Whistling Diva, who you may recognize as festival producer Kaufman. Spanning indie rock, alternative, acoustic, and genre-blending performances, the festival offers something for every music lover.
“We love to give as many opportunities as possible to all of the amazing creative acts in the region. We select musicians and performers from all over Southern California,” shared Kaufman about the diversity featured in the lineup. “We love to highlight up and coming artists and expose our audiences to talent from all over the area. Our audience is from all over Los Angeles County and we are proud that we have grown into one of the largest music and art festivals in the area – attendees keep coming back because we offer so many talented and unique artists.”
Creative Being is also the organization behind the Masters of Musical Whistling Competition, the world’s premier whistling championship, currently the subject of “WHISTLE,” a feature documentary from an Academy Award-nominated Australian production company that has been screening at major international film festivals, including a recent presentation at the Sydney Opera House during the Sydney International Film Festival.
“I just got back from the Sydney Film Festival where our film was shown to an exuberant sold-out crowd,” said Kaufman over email. “We have been the opening night film at many festivals including DocNYC, the biggest documentary festival in the US. We have distribution in Canada and Australia and now just waiting to finalize a deal with an American distributor. We are hopeful that it will be picked up within a few months and screened in a living room near you soon.”
Whether it’s music, movement, making, or something entirely personal, Monrovia Music Fest celebrates the idea that creativity belongs to everyone.
“Our goal is that everyone gets inspired. This event asks the questions, ‘What’s your artform?’ We want you to come enjoy it all while providing an opportunity to see all of the art that is available for you,” concluded Kaufman.
Conveniently located near the Metro A Line Monrovia Station, Library Park is located at 321 S. Myrtle Ave. in Monrovia. Admission to the festival is free and open to all ages. For more information, VIP Lounge tickets, or donations, visit MonroviaFest.com and follow @MonroviaFest on social media.
