A bomb threat at Bell Gardens High School prompted an evacuation of the campus Friday, but no explosives were found by police.

The Bell Gardens Police Department was notified about 10:40 a.m. of the threat made via social media toward the school located at 6119 Agra St., according to a department statement.

Police contacted a school resources officer at Bell Gardens High School and notified them of the threat, prompting the officer to evacuate all students and staff on the campus to the school’s football field out of an abundance of caution.

A BGPD canine unit was brought to the scene to conduct a search for explosives, but none was found and the school was deemed safe for students and staff to reenter.

An investigation into the bomb threat is ongoing, and anyone with information was asked to contact BGPD Sgt. Benson at 562-806-79694. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or submitted online at lacrimestoppers.org.
