Police Wednesday said that a 15-year-old girl was arrested in the shooting of 19-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy in San Pedro.

The shooting was reported at 11:55 p.m. on Aug. 23 in the area of Mesa and First streets, east of Pacific Avenue. Investigators later learned the shooting occurred during an altercation with the suspect and the 19-year-old victim, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“During this incident (the) 15-year-old female retrieved a firearm from her backpack and discharged it striking the two victims,” the LAPD reported. “Both victims were treated at a local hospital and have subsequently been released.”

The suspect fled the scene following the shooting, though LAPD detectives were able to discern her identity after reviewing surveillance footage from the area and interviewing witnesses, police said.

The suspect was located on Tuesday and arrested, though her name was not released. She was booked on suspicion of assault with a firearm and is being held at Central Juvenile Hall.

Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to contact LAPD Detective Chris Lindberg at 310-726-7891. Calls made during non-business hours or on weekends can be directed to 877-527-3247.
