The Los Angeles Lakers will open the 2022-23 season Oct. 18 at Golden State and play their home opener Oct. 20 against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Lakers will play on Christmas Day for the 24th consecutive season, playing at Dallas. They will play host to Houston on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 16.

In a first, all 30 teams will play on Nov. 7, the day before the midterm election, and promote voter participation, share important resources from voting organizations, and highlight teams’ civic engagement work in their markets. The Lakers will play at Utah Nov. 7.

No games have been scheduled for Election Day, Nov. 8, in an attempt to encourage fans to vote.

In conjunction with the NBA unveiling its schedule Wednesday, the Lakers announced they will retire the No. 16 jersey worn by Pau Gasol March 7, when they face the Memphis Grizzlies, the team he began his NBA career with.
