Police were in a standoff Wednesday with an armed man who refused to come out of a tent in Hollywood, authorities said.

Officers were sent to Selma Avenue and McFadden Place at about 7 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

As a precaution, nearby Hollywood High School was placed on lockdown, as was Larchmont Charter on the campus of Selma Elementary School, according to Los Angeles school police.

The lockdowns were lifted at about 9:30 a.m., but school police officers monitored the situation, as LAPD officers continued their efforts to take the man into custody, school police reported.

The man was taken into custody about 10 a.m., police said. The man may have been in possession of a replica handgun, according to a broadcast report. No injuries were reported.
