Several significant projects are working their way through the review process and stages of construction in Monrovia.
Chick-fil-A and Starbucks began the environmental public review and comment period on May 3 for their proposal to construct and operate two new drive-thru restaurants at the southwest corner of West Huntington Drive and Encino Avenue (former Claim Jumper restaurant site). Chick-fil-A would be 4,562 square feet and the Starbucks café would be 2,200 square feet. Both restaurants would be single story and include outdoor dining space.
As part of this project, approximately 8,600 square feet of land would be dedicated to the City of Monrovia for future parkland use. However, the project does not propose park improvements. The future development of a park would require additional public input, as well as separate review and approval by the Community Services Commission and the City Council.
