PUSD triplets inoculated by Pasadena Health Department Director Dr. Ying-Ying Goh

Pasadena Public Health Department, in collaboration with Huntington Hospital and Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD), hosted a vaccination clinic for 16- and 17-year-olds Thursday with the goal of fully vaccinating seniors and their families in time for June graduations.

Pasadena teen triplets Ryann, Noah and Luke Reynoso were some of the first student recipients of the Pfizer vaccine administered by Pasadena Public Health Department Director Dr. Ying-Ying Goh during a Thursday morning press conference at Victory Park, as mom Julie looked on proudly.

Goh provided a brief update on COVID-19 locally and vaccination rates and encouraged those hesitant to take the shot and protect themselves, family and friends with any one of the three readily available vaccines.

The city of Pasadena in conjunction with Timothy Albert, director of Huntington Physicians, PUSD Chief Academic Officer Elizabeth Blanco, and Goh organized the event Thursday.

As of April 15, 2021, all Californians aged 16 and older are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Pasadena residents should first contact their healthcare provider or local pharmacy for vaccine availability.

You can visit MyTurn.ca.gov to view a list of Pasadena and other nearby locations offering COVID-19 vaccinations and schedule a vaccine appointment. A parent/legal guardian must accompany 16- and 17-year-olds to their vaccine appointment to provide consent. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is the only COVID-19 vaccine authorized for people in this age group.
