On July 29, at about 8:05 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 100 block of West Maple Street regarding an attempted kidnapping investigation. On arrival, officers talked with the victim who said she was walking west on Maple Street and when she saw a male standing near a parked truck with the passenger door open. As the victim walked by the truck, she felt someone pull her hair, causing her to fall. The suspect dragged the victim several feet back toward his truck and the victim began to scream for help. A nearby witness noticed the struggle, which caused the suspect to release the victim. The suspect then entered his vehicle and drove away.

The case was assigned to Detective Anthony Russo and on August 4, a composite sketch of the suspect and his vehicle was provided to the public. That same day a concerned citizen called the police department and told Detective Russo he had seen a vehicle similar to the photograph at a specific location. Police investigators assigned to the department’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Detective Russo and Detectives from the Homicide Assault Unit conducted a surveillance near the 300 block of Tamarac Drive Pasadena. The suspect, Jose Diaz Servellon, Male, 29 years old, Pasadena Resident, was arrested without incident.

Detectives secured a search warrant and served it at Servellon’s residence the white pick-up truck was impounded as evidence. Servellon was booked at the Pasadena jail. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for criminal filing.
