June 2

At about 9:17 p.m., Pasadena Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a motorist near Raymond Avenue and Washington Boulevard. Officers learned that the subject was driving on a suspended driver’s license. During the subsequent investigation, PPD officers discovered a stolen gun in the car. The suspect was arrested without incident and booked in the Pasadena jail.

June 4

At about 9:39 p.m., Pasadena Police officers were patrolling Memorial Park, 85 East Holly Street, following several citizen complaints re: narcotics activity. Officers saw a narcotics transaction and made contact with the primary suspect. During their field investigation, the officers determined that the suspect was in possession of a gun. He was arrested without incident and booked at the Pasadena jail. The gun was booked as evidence.

June 5

At 7:13 a.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to a call of a residential burglary in the 500 block of Palo Verde Avenue where the suspect entered the victim’s home through an unlocked back door. The victim confronted the suspect, who immediately fled the dwelling. PPD officers arrived quickly and detained the suspect without further incident. The suspect was positively identified by the victim and was arrested. He was transported to the Pasadena jail and booked for residential burglary.

June 6

At about 3:44 a.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 1100 block of East Maple Street regarding an Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW). On arrival, officers learned that the suspect began to argue with the victim, which led to a physical altercation. The suspect struck the victim several times on the victim’s head and body. The suspect then fled the dwelling; however, he was located a short time later and arrested without further incident. He was positively identified and booked in the Pasadena jail.

June 10

At about 3:50 a.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to an armed robbery at Wells Fargo Bank, 3701 E. Foothill Blvd. The robbery was in progress when Pasadena Police officers arrived and arrested the suspect (Shownee Smith, 41 years, Pasadena Resident) without incident as he exited the bank. Smith was in possession of a rifle, a bag containing U.S. Currency, and other items of evidence. Pasadena Police detectives and the Federal Bureau of Investigations are currently investigating the robbery. Smith is believed to be the “Dual Valley Bandit” and maybe responsible for ten other bank robberies in Los Angeles County.
