Foothill Unity Center has been helping those who need a hand in the community for more than 40 years. They are continuing their efforts in this time of quarantine. They do, however need help from those who can give in the community. To that end, they have prepared a wish list of what they need most and a list of the services they provide.

Topping the wish list is monetary donations as the center can make your dollars go further at the regional food bank, but there are other things they can use as well. Here is a brief list:

  • Disposable gloves and masks.
  • Hand sanitizer.
  • Volunteers.
  • Gift cards to grocery stores.
  • Bags.
  • Fresh produce (the volunteer agency that harvests from local trees has suspended operations).
  • Breads.
  • Meats and dairy.
  • Nose tissues, paper towels, and toilet paper.
  • Personal hygiene products.
  • Household cleaning products.

If you can help with any of these items, please do so. Any such donations can be taken to either the Monrovia location (790 W. Chestnut Ave., Monrovia) or in Pasadena (191 N. Oak Ave., Pasadena).

Both offices are remaining open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by phone or email. Food distribution is being done on a drive- or walk-through basis only from the parking lot. In Monrovia they are done on Mondays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and on Wednesday and Friday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The Pasadena schedule is Tuesdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and Wednesday and Friday from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

For those Unity Center calls “unhoused,” they can receive bagged lunches designed to feed a person for one or two days. These can be accessed three times a week. Hygiene kits are also available once a week.
