Dylan Feik was on hand Wednesday, with his wife and three children, to get to know the community a little better after being sworn in as the new city manager of Monrovia.
The meet and greet event—sponsored by the City of Monrovia—held at Monrovia’s Historical Museum, was well attended by local officials including Chief of Police Alan Sanvictores and Fire Chief Brad Dover.
Mayor Tom Adams introduced the eloquent Mayor Pro Tem Larry J. Spicer and the always droll Councilwoman Gloria Crudginton prior to welcoming the new city manager.
In his remarks, Mayor Adams thanked Monrovia Weekly for being the only paper to accurately report that the city was financially stable; contrary to erroneous reports in a Pasadena newspaper as well as local blog.
Crudgington quipped that she wanted to get the previous city manager, Oliver Chi, fired but assured his successor that no such thoughts were in her mind.
Although he’s only been in the city a short time, Feik has already established himself as a good-natured leader to steer Monrovia to the next phase of excellence. He has local government management experience working in the cities of Knoxville, Iowa, and Auburn, Calif. Most recently, Feik served as city manager of Calistoga, located in California’s Napa Valley. His extensive exposure to a variety of local government related disciplines includes specific expertise in labor negotiations, public works operations, and overseeing capital improvement projects. Feik holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Kansas, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Weber State University.
