The Santa Anita Family YMCA and LifeChurch recently announced that they will join together to recognize eight community heroes for their selfless and sustained support of families in crisis. Over the past 15 years, the honorees have labored, led, raised money, and donated to ensure that everyone in the community has the support they need when disaster strikes.

Donna Baker, Mary Ann and Corey Lutz, Betty Sanford, Becky and Chris Shevlin, Pastor Josh Smith and Mountainside Communion Church, and Larry Spicer will be honored at a community celebration in Monrovia’s Library Park on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019. This free family-friendly event is open to all and starts at 7 p.m.

“For the past 15 years these community leaders have given us the support to walk alongside youth, adults and families during critical moments in their lives.” says Ulises Gutierrez, community organizer. “I am grateful for our honorees and am thrilled to welcome my dear friends, Terry Hotchkin, Sonia and Kurt Luginbuhl, and Pastor Richard Brown to the next phase of our community outreach efforts.”

Friday’s event will also feature the launch of iNSPIRE, a new community service organization that will focus on crisis response, community engagement, and family stability.

Attendees will enjoy food provided by Max’s Mexican Cuisine, music, kids’ activities, and raffles.
