Monrovia Observes Veterans Day Friday, Nov. 11

The Allied Veterans Council of the upper San Gabriel Valley in conjunction with the city of Monrovia honored veterans at Library Park on Friday.

Scott Sinclair, president of Allied Veterans emceed the event.

Monrovia High School band, directed by Daniel Magallenes, performed ‘America the Beautiful,’ ‘Veterans Salute’ and ‘God Bless America’ for a crowd of about 250 family friends and veterans who gathered outside the library to honor those who serve and have served.

VFW Post 2070, G. Willie Williams, Commander Post 2070, performed the time-honred flag folding ceremony and ‘Taps’ was played by one of the Monrovia High School students.

On hand for the ceremony were, newly elected Senator Anthony Portantino, Congresswoman Grace Napolitino and the Monrovia city council members.

Also on hand was former Marine and superior court Judge, Bruce Marrs.
