A 26-year-old man was recently charged with one count of murder for an alleged DUI crash in which a 4-month-old girl was killed, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced. Jared Hale Lynch Silvestri (DOB March 27, 1990) of Pasadena faces one count each of murder, driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury and driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol content causing injury. Arraignment in case BA451629 is scheduled today in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

Silvestri is accused of crashing his VW Jetta, full speed, into a Chrysler pulled over to the shoulder of the 110 Freeway near Stadium Way on Nov. 5, prosecutors said. The driver in the Chrysler was injured and her granddaughter, Melanie Brown, died as a result of her injuries. A 9-year-old girl in the Chrysler only suffered minor injuries. The recommended bail is $1.1 million. If convicted as charged, Silvestri faces a possible maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison. The case remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Central Los Angeles Station.
