Carolyn (Carol) Dorothy Rowe, 97 years old passed away peacefully of natural causes on Oct. 19, 2016 in the house built by her husband in Arcadia, California. She was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Richard Rowe. She is survived by daughters Patricia Powell and Debra (Marc) Bielec, 5 grandchildren, Sherrie, Terri, Suzie, Brandon, and Nicholas, and 5 great grandchildren, Samantha, Noelle, Anthony, Trevor and Sara.

Carol was born in Isanta, Minnesota on Christmas day. She was put under the Christmas tree in the morning where her siblings found her and nicknamed her Dolly.

She grew up in Minnesota and spent summers working on her uncle’s farm in North Dakota. She moved to California in 1939, initially living in Pasadena. In 1948 the house in Arcadia was complete and the couple moved in and lived there for the remainder of their lives.

During World War II she worked at the Cleminsons California Clay factory while her husband served in the Pacific. Carol was a devoted housewife, enjoying many hobbies include crocheting, cake decorating and sewing.

Carol attended mass at Holy Angels Church in Arcadia and belonged to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Viewing and internment are at Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuaries (3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, CA 90601). Viewing is Nov. 3, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Internment is Nov. 4, 2016 in the Memorial Chapel from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with grave side services to follow.
