Robert (Bob) Wood Sniffin was born March 7, 1940 in New York City and passed away August 6, 2015.

Robert (Bob) Wood Sniffin was born March 7, 1940 in New York City and passed away Aug. 6, 2015. Bob was raised in Garden City, Long Island until the age of 13 when his mother passed away. He moved with his father and brother to Florida where he obtained his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida in 1963. Bob accepted a position with Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas, and spent the next six years developing terrain following radar systems. He followed his best friend to Southern California in 1969 to provide technical support for an underground record company named Rubber Dubber Records and secured a position as a systems engineer for the Deep Space Network operated by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena where he met his lovely wife-to-be in 1971. They were married in 1977 in advance of a two-year assignment at NASA Headquarters in Washington DC. They subsequently returned to live in Monrovia, California and Robert retired from JPL in 2009. He continued to work at JPL as an independent contractor until his death. His hobbies were choral singing and household maintenance. He is survived by his wife, Hilda, and son, Michael. His service will be held Friday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Monrovia.
