Come join in at “The Lunch Bunch,” which will be meeting on Saturday 21 March, at 11:30 a.m. in Guild Hall. We will be making the small palm crosses that are handed out to the congregation on Palm Sunday. They are fun to make using freshly picked palm fronds, and it is quite tricky to convert the fresh greens into the lovely little crosses. So if you are an old pro or have always wanted to learn how to make them, come and join us, and please bring a tasty dish to share with this caring group. All are welcome!
And Opera Animata returns to St. Luke’s with Orfeo ed Euridice on March 20-21. The classic Greek myth has been retold many times and set by many composers. Opera Animata takes Gluck’s famous setting and brings it to life with a twist in a semi-staged production with chamber orchestra in three acts. Girl meets girl. Girls fall in love. On their wedding day, Euridice is bitten by a snake while picking flowers and disappears into the underworld. Orfeo, using her heart as her compass and Amore (Love) as her guide, travels to the land of the dead to save her true love. Tickets are available at operaanimata.com.
