Authorities continued searching Wednesday for a suspect who fatally shot a man inside or near a residence in Arcadia in what police said could be a possible home invasion.

Arcadia Police Department officers responded around 6:26 p.m. Tuesday to the 100 block of Woodlawn Lane, west of Santa Anita Avenue and Foothills Middle School.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Lt. Steven De Jong from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators recovered a gun inside the residence, but it was not immediately clear if it was the firearm used in the shooting, according to published reports.

Deputies searched the neighborhood and the nearby hillside for the suspect into the early morning hours on Wednesday.

The sheriff’s department will assist Arcadia police with the homicide investigation, according to the LASD.

It was not immediately known if the man who was shot was the homeowner.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau, 323-890-5500. To submit anonymous tips, call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
