West Covina asks for feedback on use of CDBG funds

The City of West Covina is beginning the planning phase for the federally funded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.  In the coming months, the city will draft a new 5-Year Consolidated Plan (ConPlan), which will cover the 2025 through 2029 program years.  The ConPlan will serve as a visioning and strategic document, reflecting community needs and goals that are eligible to be addressed with the federal grant funds.

Because “community needs” will be considered in funding allocation decisions, the city is seeking feedback from the public relative to the overall community development and housing needs, including the needs of low- and moderate-income persons. The city would also like to hear public views regarding eligible activities that should be undertaken to meet the identified needs.

In an effort to provide an opportunity for broad public participation, an online survey is available at westcovina.org/conplan. By taking the brief survey, the public will be able to weigh in on the prioritization of eligible activities with respect to the community.

The development of the ConPlan will come before the City Council in two public hearings in the coming months. Public comments and survey results will be incorporated in the final Conplan.

Direct any questions to Kelly McDonald, assistant to the city manager, City Manager’s Office, City of West Covina, 1444 W. Garvey Ave., 91790 or via Email at kmcdonald@westcovina.org.
