A guard was shot and wounded Monday during a robbery of an armored car at a Bank of America branch in an unincorporated area bordering Carson, and the suspects were being sought, authorities said.
The armored car was making a money pick-up at the Bank of America branch at 23800 S. Vermont Ave. about 11:15 a.m. when the armed guard was confronted by two male suspects wearing ski masks, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
“At least one of the suspects immediately opened fire on the guard with an unknown type firearm, striking the guard multiple times in his lower extremities,” according to the sheriff’s department. “The suspects then fled with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency in a black colored sedan.”
The guard was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s department reported.
Anyone with information in the case was urged to call the Carson Sheriff’s Station at 310-830-1123.
