Burbank police Wednesday were investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured.

Officers were called about 7:15 a.m. Monday to the 2800 block of North Brighton Street, near Woodbury University, on reports of the shooting and found a man in the front yard of a residence “suffering from significant injuries,” according to a department statement.

Officers provided aid until paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital with what were determined to be non-life threatening injuries.

While officers were responding to the first call, the BPD received additional reports of a second male victim who was wounded in the 2800 block of North Lincoln Street, about a block away from the scene of the reported shooting.

Arriving officers were flagged down by a person who said the victim had been shot and was inside her home.

Paramedics were called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead. His name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

BPD investigators reviewed surveillance footage in the area and interviewed witnesses, leading them to identify “two individuals believed to be involved in the shooting” who fled the scene prior to the arrival of police. The two people were later found and interviewed, though the BPD noted no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

Police also recovered a handgun that was involved in the shooting, and reported the attack “was not a random act and investigators believe all people involved knew each other.”

Events leading up to the shooting were under investigation, and police had yet to establish a motive.

Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to contact the BPD at 818-238-3210.
