Fire damages apartment building in Long Beach

Fire near oil facility sparks small explosion, rattling windows in Signal Hill

Authorities Thursday were investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a high-rise apartment building in Long Beach.

Firefighters were sent to the 700 block of Pacific Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and extinguished the flames on the 14th floor, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.

No injuries were reported. Red Cross personnel assisted residents displaced by the fire.
