Two people are dead and one person is hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision in Lancaster Tuesday.

Officers responded at 9:45 p.m. Monday to 240th Street East and Avenue M where a Honda Civic had apparently collided with a Ford F-350 flatbed truck, said Officer Patrick Kimball of the California Highway Patrol.

According to CHP, the Honda was driving on the wrong side of the road and in an effort to avoid a head-on collision, the driver of the truck swerved, but the Honda crashed into the rear of the truck.

It was not immediately known which street the Honda was driving on.

The male driver of the Honda and a female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Ford was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital with minor injuries.

Kimball said the collision is under investigation.
