Woman killed in Manchester Square while walking on crosswalk ID’d

A woman killed when she was struck while walking in a crosswalk by a hit-and-run motorist in the Manchester Square area of Los Angeles was publicly identified Monday.

Sherolyn Scott was 64-years-old, according to the coroner’s office.

The crash was reported about 11:25 a.m. Saturday at Normandie Avenue and 83rd Street, according to a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center.

The incident began with a minor crash and Manchester and Normandie avenues. A driver fled the scene and hit Scott in the crosswalk, KTLA reported. The fleeing driver’s car became disabled on 79th Street and he ran away.

Scott was pronounced dead at the scene, the desk officer said.

Anyone with information on the driver was asked to call LAPD’s South Traffic Division detectives at 323-421-2500. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
