A motorcyclist killed in a head-on crash with a wrong-way motorist on a Gardena street was a Duarte resident, authorities said Monday.

Quintance Daniels was 47-years-old, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The crash was reported at 11:30 p.m. Saturday on Rosecrans Avenue at Kingsley Drive, according to Gardena police Lt. Eric Hyde.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that the female driver of a black Jeep was driving westbound on Rosecrans Avenue when she collided with the center median near Kingsley Drive,” Hyde said. “She continued westbound into oncoming eastbound lanes of traffic and collided head-on with a motorcycle traveling eastbound.”

Daniels was pronounced dead at the scene, the lieutenant said.

The Jeep driver was taken by paramedics to Harbor General Hospital for evaluation, he said.

The investigation continued and anyone with information was asked to call Traffic Investigator Jose Zamudio at 310-217-6189 or Traffic Sergeant Alex Rivera at 310-217-6183.
